Scripture:
Refuse no one the good on which he has a claim
when it is in your power to do it for him (Proverbs 3:27)

Be not wise in your own eyes,
Fear the Lord and turn away from evil; (Proverbs 3: 7)

Observation:
It is easy to fall into the trap of being know-it-alls with immediate access to technology in the form of our computers, tablets, smartphones, etc. A common response that we encounter to a piece of information is "I know" when sometimes all we have is surface-level knowledge. In our daily lives, we are asked as parents, employees, citizens to know all sorts of things and to act like we know what we are talking about. A show of doubt or uncertainity is often looked down upon.

Application:
I have to believe that in whatever I need to learn, God will guide me along the right path so that my learning is Christ-centered and that even if I am only learning, or a slow-learner, my world (work, home, etc.) will still be okay.

And He shall direct[ your paths.”
                                                               (Proverbs 3:5-6)

We stumble of tack many times even going around and round in endless circles because we are following our own advice. When we hear the call of Christ we cannot stand aside; often what may seem crooked or illogical way to us is the straight way for God.

He will take us through the valley to have us abide on the mountain top. Gideon was a man that experienced this. When he was appointed by God to be a warrior to lead and defeat the Midianites his response was:

Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”

This seems absurd in our eyes for God to choose the weakest clan but God’s sees beyond the natural and into the supernatural.

Then, God instructed Gideon to defeat the Midianites by decreasing the number of men in his army.  First, he told Gideon to tell all the men that were afraid to go home. Then, he decreased the army a second time by the method at which then men drank from the water.

[color=#800080]Separate those who lap the water with their tongues as a dog laps from those who kneel down to drink.”
“With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands.

Scripture
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
But he who obeys me dwells in security, in peace, without fear of harm

Observation:
The verse " for the self will of the simple kills them" reminded me that often we turn to ourselves (importance of the self) in order to find answers to our problems instead of turning them over to God and to seek his counsel.

Application:
To remember in each moment of my life (joy, sorrow, success, setback, anything) to know and acknowledge God's hand, His will in them.

Hello!
I stumbled upon GMG during yet another online search for active bible study groups and I am excited to see how active this forum and the GMG community is! I am 33, married (10-year anniversary coming up in July) and have a three-year old daughter. Balancing all the components of my life has not been easy and through every moment of it, I've wanted to refocus and deepen my relationship with God. I look forward to learning from the collective wisdom of this group and deepen my spiritual knowledge.
Kind regards,
Maryn Joseph
