This is a small group that was following the plan to read through the Bible one chapter at a time with Good Morning Girls. Good Morning Girls is on an indefinite break. But will we continue reading through the Bible.
Each Monday go to the Weekly Reading Plan or the Bible Study Thread for our current book to see the introductory post for the week and the weekly reading passages, discussion questions, and memory verse.
Be sure to come here each day to see what the members of the group are sharing. Try to participate in the discussion with a post at least once each week to share with us what God is teaching you. Posting on the forum helps motivate all of us to keep reading by seeing the others persevering and it provides additional insight and learning.
Each Friday we will attempt to share a Friday Devotional that addresses some of the topics we have read that week.

Today is Psalms 17. My hope is to write out the Psalm in my notebook - as the day progresses. So, I am still on verses 1-2. I wanted to share that I was reading today's Psalm, because let's face it: I have a tendency to forget. Love what Clarke's commentary says on verse 1 though -
"My supplication is sincere; and the desire of my heart accompanies the words of my lips."
As we pray and cry out to God, He knows the desire of our hearts. So for me, this means: praying it out. Not pretending I am fine when clearly I am not, but just being willing to be honest and cry it out.

From Chapter 1 |Monday|
Scripture: "Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah to come out of the sanctuary, wondering why he was taking so long (1:21, NLT)."
Observation: This seems to be what we do, isn't it? We sit, look at others, wait for them to do the expected thing, and wonder why when they delay or do the unexpected thing.
Application: I am guilty of this also, where my focus can be on someone other than God. While in my place of serving, like they were seen doing in verse 10 as they prayed, I can shift from God to others. "Why is this taking so long?" My focus needs to be on my King Jesus and serving Him in this moment. I need to just be present!
Kneel: Lord Jesus, help me to not wait and wonder in a way that causes me to miss You and what You are doing! I need to wait and wonder by standing in awe of what You are doing and not on what someone else is doing. Thank You Lord, because You are doing something!! Amen.

Ohhh, I love your message board. I also wanted to thank you for posting the link on GMG. I am excited to join in. I am still learning to navigate the message board. Thanks so much for including the verse of the day and discussion questions. Writing them out, for me to look over this coming week.
