I read this quote today that I thought I would share.

"We do not have a God who forever indulges our whims but a God whom we trust with our destinies."

James4 13-17

O: We should remeber two thing, firstly there is a much bigger picture to Gods Kingdom than we will ever grasp on earth, and secondly its not all about you!. We can become so insular wrapped up in striving for what the world offers, money position, perceived power, that we forget why we are here. We are here to serve god and build his kingdom on earth so that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, to care for his creation and love as he has loved us."

Amen!  It gives me such peace when I just take a breath and say "there is a bigger picture here that I don't see"  I just need to trust in the One who holds that "picture."   And I need to tell myself more often that "it is not all about me!"
This James study is a "toe stepper on-er".  Good Stuff!!   Thank you all for your insights!

James 3:17  is just so rich in truth.  God's wisdom is first PURE, then it is PEACEABLE, GENTLE, REASONABLE, FULL OF MERCY AND GOOD FRUITS, UNWAVERING without HYPORISY.
This is opposite of the wisdom this world gives.  The "wisdom" of this world brings about disorder and EVERY evil thing.  When you line up God's wisdom along side of this world's wisdom who would ever want to chase after anything other than the wisdom that comes from God.  It seems like a no brainer but yet day after day I battle chasing the wisdoms of this world.
I battle living wisely in some of my relationships.  I need to ask for more wisdom in that area.
Great study today!

TBG, you have such good and honest insights.  Thank you for breaking it down verse by verse and pulling the truth "nuggets" out.  God's Word is so good and life giving.  I love that He has planted it in us.

GMG Discussion Question: How do you not only hear and read God's Word, but put it in action in your day to day life?

Wouldn't it be so nice if His Word just flowed from us minute by minute without us even thinking about it.  Like our every action, thought and word was Him.  I picture it like we are all Mary Poppins"ish".  Just floating around with ease doing our daily tasks...giving out spoons full of His "sugar".  She makes it all look so easy.   But we all know the reality of this world...it is hard, filthy, unkind.   To live out His Word we have to make a conscious effort to be in it..to believe it..to trust in it...and apply it.  Applying it does not have to be complicated.  It can be a smile...a helping hand... a hug... a phone call...a word of encouragement.. not letting the conflicts of this world choke out His Word living in you...
I pray that He reveals ways I can be a "doer" each day.  Then I try to stay open to what He brings my way.

I have always drawn strength from verse 17 which talks about the good and perfect gifts are from above given by the Father of Light , with whom there is no variation or shifting shadows.  God is a CONSTANT.  He is not like the shifting shadows or the surf that is driven and tossed by the wind.  He can be trusted.  He is generous. He is a giver of good things.  He is not a tempter.  He is the Father of Light.  These are some truths I have a meditated on today.

Also when I am studying a song usually pops into my head.  Today the song has been Constant by Francesca Battistelli.
