Have not got the hang of the SOAK yet, sorry if this is long.  Reading this week in 1Samuel and the "God moment" I had continues to remind me of how important it is to listen and act upon what He tells us.

Over the years I have created a book of "God Moments" which are moments where God has interjected Himself into my situation to show me who He is and that He is faithful.  I have countless entries in this book so you would think I would know better, but yet Monday night around 11 pm after everyone I could have contacted for help/advice was inaccessible, I heard running water which I perceived that a pipe under my house had burst.  I immediately went to the Lord in prayer for help, but also in a whining tone asked why He would allow this to happen.  He knows my finances but I spent most of the night reminding Him of the plumbers bill, possible damage to crawl space and how the increased water bill was going to affect my finances.  But "Oh well, I will trust you Lord". Called a plumber at 4:30 -  had to wait.  Too dark to go check outside. Had no way to turn the water off to the house.  Called son at 5:30, just to hear myself whine. As soon as it got daylight, (have not slept one wink) I decided to go check.  "For some reason" I went out the garage instead of a more direct route out the front door, only to see my hose had burst and once I turned off the faucet, the sound of a burst pipe disappeared.
Here is the most important part of this story.  Everytime I pulled into the garage I was "impressed" to disconnect the hose now that the weather was getting colder. I was not hearing the "still small voice" of the Lord. When I saw that it was only the hose, I felt such relief/shame wash over me but instantly He flooded me with the assurance of His love. It is so important for us to realize that God watches over us 24/7 and is always working in our lives. Listening to His leadings and responding is so vital in a relationship with God.

My name is Kathie, I am new to GMG studies and I am so looking forward to it!  I live in Georgia, I am retired so you would think I would have lots of time on my hands, however, now I wonder how I ever had time to go to work. My husband left me after 32 years of what I thought was a wonderful marriage. A bit of a blindside as I did not see it coming.  I have struggled with the usual problems/feelings that come from a failed marriage but God has taken me on such a deeper, personal walk with Him during the last 20 years that I would not trade one second of.   He gave me a verse the night my husband walked out. "Be Still and Know that I am God". 20 years later I can still say He is faithful and has met my every need. I want to continue to know Him and His Word so I am looking forward to this study in the book of Samuel!
